THE LITERACY ACCELERATOR PROGRAM
The Literacy Accelerator Program is designed to engage parents actively in their children's literacy education. By providing accredited resources for assessing and enhancing reading proficiency, this program empowers parents with the necessary tools to support their children's educational journey.
Currently, only 27% of students in Newark meet the grade-level English Language Arts (ELA) standards.
Project Ready has created a three-pronged literacy program which includes implementing our newly created Literacy Accelerator Program, establishing the Newark Advocacy Center and launching a public awareness campaign.
THE PROGRAM
The Newark Advocacy Center will offer a place for all community members to become advocates for quality education and will host workshops, seminars and town halls. The center will also collaborate with local schools and organizations, working in partnership to address Newark’s educational challenges.
We are part of a city-wide effort to highlight the importance of literacy and education.
Our goal is to boost literacy levels among Newark students by actively involving parents in their children’s reading journey. By participating, you will help us show just how impactful parental support can be.
-
We aim for at least 70% of students with engaged parents to achieve or surpass their literacy growth goals.
-
Empowered Parents: We want every participating parent to feel more informed and confident about supporting their child’s reading progress and navigating the education system.
-
Actionable Outcomes: Your involvement will contribute to the creation of a successful model that can expand and benefit more families in Newark in the future.
